                  Jayar Reed
                  Full name: Jayar Reed
                  Age: 27

Married, with children? Yes and yes. (Wife) Christina and (Daughter) Kansas who is 2

Favorite artist: Toby Mac, hands down. Followed by Relient K and FM Static.

Describe what you are hoping to accomplish on Total Axxess:
REALITY RADIO! I grew up being forced to listen to a Christian radio station in my home town whose deejays were un-relatable and “fake” sounding. I felt like the guys I heard on the air were on a planet I’d never even visited! I don’t want people saying that about me after listening to Total Axxess. Each night, we “get real.”

So what’s new on Total Axxess:
“The Total Axxess Hot List” … The 5 Hottest songs on planet Earth! And “Total Axxess Thursday Night House Calls” … If you’ve ever heard of MTV’s “Cribs” where they go into the artist’s houses, refrigerators, and garages … That’s what we are now doing on Total Axxess with “house calls” … Talk about “access!”

Theme of your life: PASSION ….

Fav Verse? “He who pursues love and righteousness finds life, prosperity, and honor.”

What do you say to the WAY-FM listener who says “Why should I listen, I want to go to bed?”
Hey, if you’re tired go ahead and get some sleep! Kidding … I want to create “quit hogging a parking space radio.” It’s the kind of radio that keeps you in your car with the car off, key still in the ignition, one foot out the door but unable to turn the radio off yet because of what you are hearing … it’s a beautiful thing!

Little known Fact About Yourself:
I was backstage at a Steven Curtis Chapman show, and they were shooting video footage for the video "The Walk". Look closely in the video, and you'll see me. I made the final cut!

If I could work any job except for radio, I would be a: Cartoon Voiceover talent. That is a dream of mine!

If there was one thing you think people should know about you, that one thing is: Nothing can stand in the way of me spending time with my family.

I was born and raised in Springfield, MA just like Dan from Jars Of Clay! I have always wanted to be on the radio, growing up I would “play DJ” in my room.

Finally, after I graduated high school, I landed my first DJ job (drum roll please)…INTERSKATE 91! Yes, I was a DJ at a roller skating rink. It was a lot of fun, and it was through working at the rink that I landed my first radio job at WHYN in Springfield, MA. I ran the board for Red Sox games, answered phones for local talk shows, among other things.

Then I finally convinced the Program Director to give me a shot on the air on the FM station…I was on Sunday Mornings from 6 – 10 AM. So, I was working at that station part time, holding down other part time jobs (including the one at the roller skating rink), and going to school full-time. Then I landed a job on-air at the station I listened to growing up, KISS 95.7 in Hartford, CT…only part-time…but this was big for me!

Just a few months before I graduated college, a full-time on-air position opened at KISS. It was there that I did the night show for KISS 95.7 for four years. Then the Lord led me in another direction…California to be exact, where I worked in Christian radio for the first time at KDUV FM. I did nights there for a little over a year…and now I am your new afternoon guy! Thanks for listening!

When are you On Air: Saturdays, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and whenever they need a fill-in guy!

What prompted you to become involved in radio: I had an interest in it, but a broadcaster in the Cleveland, Ohio, area (I grew up in Wadsworth, Ohio) named "Uncle" Bob Devine really was instrumental. He had a Saturday morning radio show that I listened to. I wrote him several times, to which he responded. He even had me and my parents up to the station one morning. His taking an interest in me really throttled up my enthusiasm for radio. God allowed me to get a job in radio right out of high school (with zero experience!) and I've been doing it ever since.

Family: Wife, Angie (we married in 1999)

Pets: Parakeet named Moses (about four years old) and a Maltese/Westie mix dog named Zoe (almost two years old). We love 'em!

Favorite verse: James 1:22

Favorite artists: Michelle Tumes, Newsboys, Phil Collins, Michael W. Smith, Sixpence...can I go on?

Favorite TV Show: Seinfeld (A close second would be The Andy Griffith Show--I could watch it all day.)

Little known Fact about Yourself: I have a hard time with the word "businesses." I don't know why. Try it. Sometimes I've had to read announcements for upcoming meetings of "The Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship" and it gets me every time.

If I could work any job except for radio, I would be a: Record producer. I mean, you're making music and you still have all the knobs and buttons. Love the knobs and buttons!

If there was one thing you think people should know about you, that one thing is: I'm really honored to be on the radio and have you listen. It's really an honor to be invited into your home, your workplace or your car. Thanks for letting me be a part of your journey of life!
